Andy
Holey moley this is one hell of a funky houseplant.
Reasons to love Andy
Andy may look like he has a few holes but, in fact, he’s a smart guy. These holes are a clever evolutionary adaption allowing light to reach his lower leaves. He sometimes goes by the name of the monkey leaf plant, because of his funny shaped leaves and his tendency to climb. If you don’t want to attach him to a cane or a moss pole though, he makes an equally beautiful trailing vine. Andy is a show off and likes to stand out from the crowd, so we’re sure he’ll be a remarkable guest on your counter or desk. Just be sure to place him in a bathroom or kitchen – or mist him frequently if he is in a less humid room, as he likes the rainforest conditions of indirect light (like under a tree canopy), and a little bit of moisture in the air.
About Andy
#1. Current size. Pot diameter 12 cm, height 25 cm.
#2. Max height. 35 cm (but as a trailing vine ).
#3. Latin name: Monstera adansonii
#4. Experience level: Intermediate
#5. Toxicity. Andy can be toxic to pets and animals if consumed.
#6. A note on pots. We recommend buying pot covers (decorative pots) for your plants for two reasons. Firstly, they look cute and they stop water from going all over your windowsill/ desk/ table etc. Secondly, it makes it easier for the roots of your plant to take up the water they need and gives you a visible indicator of how thirsty they are! If you already own pots, or have an old saucer you would prefer to use, choose the pot free option (shown with plants in their nursery pots). Otherwise, we would recommend buying a pot cover for Andy. The pot cover is a grey, glazed ceramic pot.
#7. Please note that every living plant is unique and so can vary slightly from the measurements and pictures shown here. The spear plant may come with different coloured tips.

Quality
Everything we sell is of a standard which we would want to use ourselves - we don’t sell anything we wouldn’t grow or use in our own gardens! We source high quality goods from the UK and the Netherlands to make sure that the Harpins Gardener never needs to worry about the quality of the plant - only how much space they have left in their house!
Provenance
Andy comes from the Netherlands.
Sustainability
Plants are naturally good for the environment, but we don’t want our business to offset the good that plants do by smothering them in throwaway, plastic packaging. When you order from us you will receive your plants in a recyclable cardboard box (which contains a high grade of recycled materials within it). Even our notecards are made from 100% recycled paper.
