Benji
Weepy, cascading leaves
Reasons to love Benji
Benji’s gently tumbling leaves and speedy growth make him a great addition to any home or office. He’s one of NASA’s top air-purifying plants, and is also great for bonsai lovers – as he has a thick trunk and typical tree shape – but is much easier to care for and will grow much faster! Benji, sometimes called a ‘weeping fig’ is, in fact, a very happy plant, provided he is given lots of light and frequent mistings. Mist daily, or place in a shallow tray filled with water and pebbles. Be wary that Benji will drop his leaves if he is put in a cold or drafty spot, or if his roots are kept sitting in water so keep him in a warm, dry place. Elegant and refined, this is one of our most in demand houseplants.
About Benji
#1. Current pot size: 12 cm.
#2. Max height at maturity: 300 cm
#3. Latin name: Ficus benjamin 'Green Kinky'
#4. Experience level: Intermediate.
#5. Benji can be toxic to pets or children.
#6. A note on pots. We recommend buying pot covers (decorative pots) for your plants for two reasons. Firstly, they look cute and they stop water from going all over your windowsill/ desk/ table etc. Secondly, it makes it easier for the roots of your plant to take up the water they need and gives you a visible indicator of how thirsty they are! If you already own pots, or have an old saucer you would prefer to use, choose the pot free option (shown with plants in their nursery pots).
#7. Please note that every living plant is unique, and so can vary slightly from the measurements and pictures shown here.

Quality
Everything we sell is of a standard which we would want to use ourselves - we don’t sell anything we wouldn’t grow or use in our own gardens! We source high quality goods from the UK and the Netherlands to make sure that the Harpins Gardener never needs to worry about the quality of the plant - only how much space they have left in their house!
Provenance
Benji comes from the Netherlands.
Sustainability
Plants are naturally good for the environment, but we don’t want our business to offset the good that plants do by smothering them in throwaway, plastic packaging. When you order from us you will receive your plants in a recyclable cardboard box (which contains a high grade of recycled materials within it). Even our notecards are made from 100% recycled paper.
